Online AP Credit to Non-Harvey Students
In September, Harvey will open its doors, it’s virtual doors that is, to non-Harvey students who wish to take AP courses for credit and preparation for the AP exams in May 2010. Many schools are eliminating their AP programs and many students who are homeschooled don’t have the opportunity to take AP courses. Harvey’s program will allow these students the opportunity to take these courses and receive Harvey credit and all the benefits that come from the AP curriculum.
- It looks great on a college application and may increase the chance of getting accepted
- The content, commitment and effort prepare student for harder classes in college
- Students can earn college credit by taking and passing the AP exam
- Studies have shown a correlation between performance in AP courses and success in college
The program will use the same online curriculum content that Harvey uses during its summer program, but will extend from mid-September through the AP exams in May. The curriculum content, which has been approved by The College Board, includes a separate AP review module for students to use prior to the AP exams. Live online meetings with the instructor will occur during the evenings and, potentially over weekends, so as not to interfere with students’ regular school schedule.
