Arts CenterIs eHarvey accredited?

Yes. The Harvey School is a fully accredited. We receive our accreditation from the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS.) Our most recent evaluation was completed in 2008 and extends our accreditation for an additional 10 years. eHarvey students will receive Harvey School credit for summer school courses completed with a passing grade.

May I take more than one course?

Of course. Students may take as many, or as few, courses as they like.

Who may enroll?

eHarvey is open to all 9th – 12th grade students without regard to race, sex, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation or color.

What technology do I need?

Students need access to a computer with high speed Internet access. Some courses, such as foreign language, also require a headset with microphone. Students can also purchase a digital tablet to facilitate writing on the whiteboard in our online classroom; however, this not required as a mouse will suffice.

What software do I need?

Students need access to Microsoft Office or an equivalent set of software, such as OpenOffice. Students will need to submit documents, spreadsheets or presentations to fulfill required assignments. Word, Excel and PowerPoint or compatible formats are required for all submissions.

How do students do lab work for science courses?

Labs are performed in a flash-based virtual environment where students can easily experience the concepts and extend their exploration beyond the lesson. Conducted this way, these are called “dry” labs.

What if my child is falling behind?

Daily assessment means that students, parents and teachers know immediately when a student falls behind. If a student fails to meet proficiency in a given area, it is reported in an electronic grade book and reported to the teacher and the parent. The teacher, and if necessary, an advisor will work with the student, parents and teacher to determine the cause of the issue, and assign an appropriate course of action to correct the situation. Each teacher has weekly live online office hours and instructional sessions for students to ask questions and arrange for extra help.

Does eHarvey have a policy regarding cheating and plagiarism?

Yes. Although students may receive help from others in preparing for exams and course work, all work must be done without cheating or plagiarism. Actual responses on work submitted to the school must be the student’s own work. Incidents of academic dishonesty will lead to removal from eHarvey.

Does eHarvey have a privacy policy?

Yes. eHarvey does not release general or personal information on students or prospective students to third-parties without the explicit, written consent of the students and/or parent/guardian. All records are kept confidential, and in a secure location at our physical campus. Student transcripts are available upon written request. eHarvey confidentiality policies are governed by the laws of New York State.
